Atos Origin acquires Siemens IT Solutions and Services

The combined organization Atos and GmbH is already operational. An outsourcing contract costs around 5.5 billion Euros for 7 years.

Completing the ‘acquisition announced at the shareholders’ meeting, Atos (formerly Atos Origin) has acquired Siemens IT Solutions and Services, GmbH, the holding company that includes all the activities of Siemens IT. In particular, when determined by the shareholders, Siemens has received 15 percent of Atos capital social as well as a payment of 176 million Euros. Meanwhile, the new company changed its name from Atos Origin to Atos.

The deal creates a new company now which entered service in 2010 has amassed a turnover of approximately EUR 8.7 billion and employs 78,500 people in 42 countries. Atos also confirmed that it has signed with Siemens on its own biggest outsourcing contract worth 5.5 billion during the period of seven years for the management of the entire IT infrastructure, applications and services.

Atos is among the top ten service providers worldwide, the global number five and number one in Europe for managed services. At this point, Atos has 30 data centers that also serve 900,000 SAP users and manage in total over 90,000 servers. After a six-month program to integrate the new Atos is immediately operational.
